What to expect this year..

Over the last 10 years Australia has become the mecca for surfing crazy ocean slabs. BIG lumps of water that come our of deep ocean water and unload on very shallow reefs.

These waves create monster barrels and intensely dangerous. They are doted around the Australian coastline.

Years ago Hawaii was the only place surfers would travel too as this chain of islands was the mecca for big wave surfing.

Places like Sunset Beach, Pipeline, Wiamea Bay were the only place to test there surfing gladiatorial skills.

Then in the mid nineties Laird Hamilton with his Maui buddies started tow-in surfing at a place called JAWS.

This changed the surfing landscape in relation to what could be surfed here in Australia. Those waves that could be seen breaking out to sea were now the focus of what is possible.

With the aid of a jet ski, these waves could be surfed. Surfers have been seeking them out and taking on the challenge of what is possible and what is not.

But one thing is for sure, what was not possible yesterday is possible today.

ASMF 12th edition shows us where the sport is now by highlighting the best slabs on the planet right here in Australia. Except the ultimate extreme action sequel, the stories behind some upcoming and talented australian surfers. All throughout the sharp eye of film director and cinematographer Tim Bonython.

ASMF 12 Includes stories shot in 2014 of the RIGHT in Western Australia, Cape Solander aka Cape Fear in Sydney, a secret south coast of NSW bombora and in Tasmania Shipsterns..& a reef 27 kilometres out to sea PEDRA BRANCA…and anything else off the press! stay tuned

Welcome to SLAB LANDS..
